Five-time Oscar-winner Francis Ford Coppola has fired Creative Artists Agency, according to sources close to the director.
Neither CAA nor Coppola’s agent at the percentery, Rick Nicita, returned calls seeking comment.
The “Godfather” helmer has not signed with another agency, and according to one senior agent, Coppola may go without agency representation. While an agent at CAA said his departure had been in the works for some time, many agents at competing percenteries — including ICM, William Morris and Endeavor — were caught unaware of the long-time CAA client’s departure.
Coppola’s latest release, “John Grisham’s The Rainmaker” earned more than $34 million at the box office in its first 17 days.
