Birgitta Ljungberg Cosmatos, the renowned Swedish sculptress and wife of film director George Cosmatos, died July 7 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 47.

George Cosmatos’ directorial credits include “Tombstone,” “The Shadow Conspiracy” and Disney’s upcoming animated feature, “Tarzan.”

In addition to her husband, Cosmatos is survived by their son, Panos.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Cosmatos’ name to the Canadian Red Cross Society Coastal Region, 909 Fairfield Road, Victoria, B.C. V8V 3/13, Canada.
