The MGM Telecommunications Group, foreign TV sales arm of the studio, has tapped James Hurlock VP, sales planning and business development for the Asia Pacific region.
In the newly created position Hurlock will oversee free and pay TV sales throughout the region and will manage the development of international channel investments, including MGM Gold, the first studio-branded general entertainment channel in Asia, and MGM’s stake in Australia’s pay TV cabler Optus Vision.
Based in Sydney, Hurlock will report to Bill Lee, senior VP of sales and business development.
Hurlock comes to MGM Telecommunications Group from Home Box Office in New York where he most recently served as director of sales and marketing, Czech and Slovak Republics. In that capacity he helped introduce premium channel HBO and basic channels Max 1 and Super Max in those regions.
