CHILE

Paul Oneill, president-CEO of UIP, said last week that Chile represents 3% of international revenues for his company but that, given the country’s multiplex explosion, this could well increase to 5% in the foreseeable future.

Oneill’s three-day visit to Santiago coincided with the opening of Hoyts’ second multiplex, an eight-screener in Puente Alto, a populous suburb close to Santiago.

The opening of another Hoyts eightplex in the capital’s downtown area is expected in mid-December.

Zwiener to step down

Andreas Zwiener, who has served as managing director of 20th Century Fox Germany since 1995, will step down from his post at the end of the year. No replacement for Zwiener has been named.
