NEW YORK — The national playwrights conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Conn., has selected its playwrights for this year’s monthlong development retreat. The conference runs June 29 to July 26 and includes four days of rehearsals followed by staged readings.
The playwrights and their projects, announced by artistic director Lloyd Richards, are: Hilary Bell, “The Eye of the Storm”; Eric Brogger, “Stranger’s Ground”; Kevin Crowley, “Disgruntled Employees”; Will Dunne, “Love and Drowning”; Jacob Estes, “Mean Creek”; Elises Forier, “La Llorona”; Robert Kerr, “The End of the Road”; Jeni Mahoney, “The Feast of the Flying Cow”; Joshua Metzger, “The Second Generation”; Jeffrey Miller, “Dreams the Silent Dead”; Nina Bunche Pierce, “The Nut House”; Adam Rapp, “Trueblinka”; Michele Raper Rittenhouse, “Angel on My Shoulder”; Ilya Ognev, “No Comment”; and Karl Sundby, “Monday? Don’t Say It’s Monday!”
All but two of the writers are from the U.S., with Ognev invited from Russia and Sundby from Norway.
Past participants include August Wilson, Wendy Wasserstein, John Patrick Shanley and Lee Blessing.
