The Independent Feature Project (IFP) has chosen Miramax Films’ “House of Yes” to kick off the opening night celebration of the 19th annual Independent Feature Film Market (IFFM) — the only market devoted to emerging American independent cinema.
” ‘House of Yes’ is the perfect opener for this year’s market,” said Michelle Byrd, IFP’s executive director, probably due to the fact that Miramax’s Bob and Harvey Weinstein will be presented with an IFP Gotham Award for Lifetime Achievement.
“Yes” stars indie veteran Parker Posey, along with Josh Hamilton, Tori Spelling and Rachel Leigh Cook, and depicts a Thanksgiving weekend, circa 1981, with a dysfunctional family. Pic is the feature debut of writer-director Mark Waters.
The IFFM will run from Sept. 14-21 at New York’s Angelika Film Center.
