Universal Pictures has taken vows to buy “Something Old, Something New,” a spec by rookie scribes Elizabeth Dorosin and David Shaw, for a low six-figure price, with Brillstein-Grey attached to produce, sources said Monday.
Pic, described as a romantic comedy, is about two sets of newlyweds who find themselves second-guessing their matrimonial decisions.
Project came to Brillstein-Grey through Laura Hopper, VP in the motion picture department. BGE prexy Lloyd Braun jumped on the project Friday with a pre-emptive purchase.
The pic marks the first major spec at BGE under new motion picture division toppers Matthew Baer and Michael Siegel. U exec VP Allison Brecker will oversee it for the studio. Karen Johnson and Shelley Wenk are also attached to produce.
The writers, who have no percentery rep, are fresh grads from USC with no feature credits.
