Stuber, Parent tapped for senior VP posts

After a yearlong building process, Universal Pictures has rounded out its production team with the addition of senior veepee of production Scott Stuber, the studio said Thursday.

U also officially announced the move of Mary Parent from New Line Cinema to Universal as a senior VP of production (Daily Variety, Aug. 1).

Both Stuber and Parent will report to prexy of production Marc Platt and co-president of production Stacey Snider.

Both execs will seek out projects and scripts to bring into the U development and production fold.

The hires mark the completion of the production staff under Platt and Snider. Other production team members include exec VP Kevin Misher, senior VPs Allison Brecker and Leonard Kornberg and VPs Eric Hughes and Peter Arnoff.

“Since joining Marc at Universal almost nine months ago, I have worked very hard trying to put together the finest production team possible,” Snider said in a statement. “We have completed what I feel will be an absolutely unbeatable team.”

Stuber, who started his career in U’s marketing division, formerly worked for Donner/Shuler-Donner Prods. as a senior VP of development and production. In four years with the Donners, he was an associate producer on “Volcano” and helped develop “NFL” with Oliver Stone and “X-Men” with Bryan Singer.

At New Line, Parent was the exec overseeing “Set It Off” and “Trial and Error.” She also exec produced the upcoming “Pleasantville,” “Woo” and “Most Wanted.”
