LONDON — Bill Kenwright, the millionaire British stage producer, is making his first move into film by financing the romantic comedy “Us Begins With You,” toplining “ER” star Anthony Edwards.
Kenwright, who is one of London’s busiest West End impresarios, won his first Tony last week for his Broadway transfer of “A Doll’s House.” He is bankrolling “Us Begins With You” out of his own pocket.
The pic started shooting June 5 in London, and also stars Jenny Seagrove, Charles Dance and Jane Leeves. It is directed by Willi Patterson from an original screenplay by Geoff Morrow.
It’s the story of an American sports therapist living in London but going nowhere, and a young widow with two children whose friends are trying to find her new romance.
Edwards and his partner Dante di Loreto will take executive producer credits through their L.A.-based company Aviator Films. The pic will also feature the movie debut of Britain’s champion sprinter Linford Christie, playing himself.
