Peter Stormare, the Swedish sidekick to Steve Buscemi in “Fargo,” has inked to join Buscemi and Bruce Willis in “Armageddon” for Touchstone Pictures, sources said Friday.
Stormare will play a Russian cosmonaut in the action thriller about the race to destroy a meteor on a crash course with Earth. Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler also star.
Michael Bay (“The Rock”) is helming from a script by Jonathan Hensleigh. Jerry Bruckheimer, Gale Anne Hurd and Bay are producing. Hensleigh will exec produce.
Pic is set to start lensing today.
Stormare just finished “The Big Lebowski” for the Coen brothers and “Mercury Rising” for Harold Becker. He was most recently seen in “The Lost World” and “Playing God.”
A well-known legit thesp in Sweden, Stormare has helmed theater and opera in Stockholm, London and Tokyo. Other feature credits include “Flirting With Disaster,” “Girl 6,” “Damage” and “Awakenings.”
His deal was brokered by Michael Lazo of the Paradigm Agency. He is also managed by Davien Littlefield of Littlefield/Rea Management.
