In a logical extension of their core business, leading logo maker Studio Production Inc. has created an animation division and called it Flip Your Lid Animation Studios.
SPI creative director Jay Jacoby said Tuesday that the new division will focus primarily on computer-generated character animation in 2-D and 3-D and will hit to all fields, but will have a special focus on commercial and TV work.
FYLAS already is hard at work on an animated main title sequence for Buena Vista Television’s new live-action syndicated series “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” which began airing this week nationally.
The company also will create a new CG version of the 20th Century Fox logo for use with the release of its first inhouse animated feature “Anastasia,” set to open Nov. 21.
The creation of FYLAS is a long-held dream of Jacoby, who worked for years as an animation director for such houses as Filmation and Hanna-Barbera.
