Writer-director John Sayles, who has helmed 11 pictures, including “Lone Star,” “Return of the Seacaucus Seven” and “Men With Guns,” has joined the board of advisers of Aperture Inc., a nonprofit corporation that awards an annual $10,000 grant to first-time filmmakers who are shooting short films.
On the board, Sayles joins documentary filmmakers Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky, directors Jim Jarmusch, Charles Burnett, Angela de Joseph, Frank Chindamo and Jesse Weathington, and editor Glenn Farr.
Eastman Kodak is an official supporter of Aperture.
New York filmmaker Joshua Marston won the first annual Aperture Grant for his short screenplay, “Night Out.”
