Paramount Pictures has picked up Christopher Darling’s sci-fi pitch “Flight Distance” for Robert Cort and David Madden to produce, sources said.
Cort/Madden, which has a deal at Par, bought the project in a low-six-figure deal out of its discretionary fund.
Pic is about a simple man who unexpectedly finds himself flown half-way across the galaxy. He runs into a number of aliens in his bid to get back home.
The project was brought into the company by Cort/Madden VP Keri Selig, who will co-produce.
Darling has “Catapult” in development at Columbia Pictures. He also created a children’s series for Nickelodeon called “Speedsters.”
Darling is managed by Gina Matthews of Tavel/Gross Entertainment. His deal was brokered by attorney Todd Stern of Weissmann, Wolff.
