Christopher Walken has inked to co-star in “Blast From the Past,” the Hugh Wilson-helmed pic for New Line Cinema.
Walken joins Brendan Fraser in the pic about a family who gets locked in a bomb shelter for 33 years.
Walken will play Calvin, the well-meaning father who mistakenly assumes there’s a nuclear attack and sends his wife and infant son into the shelter in 1962.
Fraser’s character, Adam, exits as a grown adult in search of a wife and falls in love with a ’90s woman.
Production sources said an offer is out to Alicia Silverstone to play Eve to Fraser’s Adam.
Walken segues to “Blast From the Past” from “Illuminata,” which John Turturro helmed and starred in from First Look/Overseas Film Group. Pic also stars Susan Sarandon and Ben Gazarra.
He also co-stars in the upcoming DreamWorks pic “Mouse Hunt” and is currently shooting “New Rose Hotel” for director Abel Ferrara. William Morris’ Gene Parseghian led the dealmaking charge for Walken.
Wilson (“First Wives Club’) is still on the search for a wife to Walken’s character.
