McCormack game for Kelley offering

Actress will star in upcoming Disney pic

Best known on the bigscreen for her role as Howard Stern’s wife in “Private Parts,” Mary McCormack will star opposite Russell Crowe (“L.A. Confidential”) in the untitled David E. Kelley project formerly known as “The Game” for Walt Disney Pictures.

Hockey fever

Kelley and Sean O’Byrne penned the script about a small Alaskan town swept by hockey fever after the local team is chosen to play in a televised exhibition game. McCormack, who played a tough lawyer in the ABC television series “Murder One,” has been cast as the wife of a hockey-playing sheriff portrayed by Crowe.

Kelley will produce along with Howard and Karen Baldwin.

McCormack recently wrapped Mimi Leder’s “Deep Impact,” a Paramount/DreamWorks co-production in which she played the only female astronaut on a space shuttle charged with deflecting a comet that is hurtling toward Earth.

‘Harvest’ season

In addition to “Deep Impact,” McCormack recently starred in Gold-heart Pictures’ indie feature “Harvest,” about a family that grows marijuana in order to save their farm, and co-stars in “Life During Wartime” with Stanley Tucci, David Arquette and Kate Capshaw.

McCormack’s deal was brokered by Rhonda Price of the Gersh Agency.
