Twentieth Century Fox has unleashed a mid-six-figure against high-six-figure payment for Craig Randelman’s actioner pitch “Sonic Boom” for Arnold Kopelson to produce, sources said Friday.
Pic will mark one of the first high-profile projects set up under Kopelson’s new deal at Fox. Details were not released concerning the project, and sources said only that the story is about a man who must stop an artificial intelligence machine on its path of destruction.
Fox outbid United Artists for the project, which the studio wants as a summer big-ticket actioner.
Fox senior VP of production Jorge Saralegui brought the project into the studio. Matt Gross, VP of development for Kopelson, brought it to the producer.
David McIlvain of Major Clients and attorney Karl Austen of Armstrong & Hirsch brokered the deal for Randelman.
