Miramax co-chairman Bob Weinstein introduced the New York premiere of the insect-laden thriller “Mimic” by explaining the distinction between a Miramax film and a release from the company’s genre banner Dimension Films: “A Miramax film touches your heart, but a Dimension film makes it beat faster.
To lower their heart rates after last Tuesday’s screening at the Ziegfeld Theatre, moviegoers adjourned to the Bryant Park Grill. On hand to celebrate the preem were “Mimic” director Guillermo del Toro and cast members Mira Sorvino, Jeremy Northam, Josh Brolin, Charles Dutton and Alexandro Goodwin. Other guests included Olympia Dukakis, Fiona Apple, Mike McGlone, Parker Posey, entertainment lawyer John Sloss, L.M. (Kit) Carson and Cynthia Hargrave and William Morris agents Mike Simpson, Johnnie Planco and Frank Frattaroli.
