Alliance and Le Monde begin production this week in Toronto on “Airborne,” an action thriller starring Steve Guttenberg, Sean Bean, Colm Feore, Kim Coates and Torri Higgenson.
Guttenberg, best known for comedy roles, headlines as the head of a government commando team that has successfully made a midair seizure of a biological weapon from a band of mercenaries. However, government officials believe the bio-bomb is still active and the team members find themselves hunted by both federal agents and surviving soldiers of fortune.
“I wanted to do something dramatic,” said Guttenberg. “This is a business of opinion and in order to get people to think of you in a different way, you have to step out like Michael Keaton did with ‘Batman.’ I’m as good as anyone out there for this type of role and now I can prove it.”
“Airborne” is being directed by Julian Grant, who co-wrote the script with Tony Johnston. John Gillespie is producing and John Fremes of Le Monde is executive producer. Alliance is selling the picture internationally and is presently in talks concerning the pic’s domestic distribution.
