Grolle d’Oros tap Gaudino’s ‘Moonspins’

ROME — A jury of European film critics voted Giuseppe M. Gaudino’s experimental drama “Moonspins Between Land and Sea” best film of the Italian feature competition at the annual Grolle d’Oro awards, presented at Saint Vincent in the Italian Alps.

Producer honor went to Francesco Tornatore for Gianfranco Cabiddu’s Sardinian folk tale “The Son of Bakunin”; composer Franco Piersanti earned a statue for his score of the pic.

Other prizes at the Nov. 1 event: actor, to Valerio Mastandrea in “We All Fall Down; actress, Valeria Golino in “The Acrobats”; screenplay, Franco Bernini and Maura Nuccetelli for “The Gray Zone”, and cinematography, Tonino Delli Colli for “Marianna Ucria.”

Roberta Torre was named best new director for the comic Mafia musical “Tano da morire,” while actress Giovanna Mezzogiorno’s debut in “The Bride’s Journey” landed her a newcomer nod.
