Alliance has ‘Brains’

Canada’s Alliance Independent Films has picked up worldwide rights to the British pic “The Girl With Brains in Her Feet.”

The low-budget movie, directed by first-timer Robert Bangura, is the debut feature from Don Boyd’s new Lexington Films banner.

It’s a comedy-drama about a 13-year-old mixed-race girl grappling with adolescence in the English Midlands in 1972.

The film is based on an original screenplay by Jo Hodges, and stars 16-year-old newcomer Joanna Ward.

This is the first time Alliance Independent Films has made an acquisition outside North America.
