H’wood heads for Venice

ROME — Nicole Kidman, who currently is completing work on Stanley Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut,” will accept the Golden Lion for career achievement being awarded to the director Sept. 6 during the closing-night ceremony of the 54th Venice Intl. Film Festival.

Also attending is actor Malcolm McDowell, who will present a special tribute screening of Kubrick’s 1971 classic, “A Clockwork Orange,” in which he stars. Kubrick is not expected to attend.

Other guests who have confirmed Venice trips include Sylvester Stallone for “Cop Land,” Mira Sorvino for “Mimic,” Harrison Ford and Wolfgang Petersen for “Air Force One,” Jeremy Irons, Gong Li and director Wayne Wang for “Chinese Box” and Elisabeth Shue for opening-night film “Deconstructing Harry,” by Woody Allen.
