MONTREAL — “Un Air Si Pur,” the latest pic from “Colonel Chabert” helmer Yves Angelo, will have its world preem as the opening-night pic at this year’s Montreal World Film Festival, it was announced by fest organizers Wednesday.
Scripted by Angelo and Jean Cosmos, the Alain Sarde production toplines Gallic star Fabrice Luchini. It is screening as part of the official competition at the Montreal film festival.
Based on a novel by Knut Hamsun, the pic, which is set during World War I, peeks behind the veneer of luxury to show a seamy world of sex and scandal. “Pur” is distributed in Canada by France Film of Montreal.
The Sept. 2 closing night film will be the world preem of Alan Rickman’s directorial debut, “Winter Guest,” a Fine Line release stateside starring Emma Thompson.
