NEW YORK — John Vanco has ankled his job as vice president of acquisitions and sales at Miramax Films to join Cowboy Booking Intl. as managing partner with founder Noah Cowan.
Founded in Toronto in 1995 by Cowan and Erin MacDonald, Cowboy has moved to New York and reincorporated as a U.S. firm.
Cowboy, a semi-theatrical booking agency, is licensed by 10 international sales agents to book films in unsold territories. Clients include Good Machine, Alliance Independent, The Sales Co. and Flach Pyramide Intl.
While at Miramax, Vanco worked on campaigns for films including “The Wings of the Dove,” “The House of Yes,” “Shall We Dance?” and “Kolya.” He also produced Miramax’s recent John Cassavetes retrospective series, “Love on the Edge,” which played soldout engagements in New York, L.A. and Boston.
