AFTRA pact extension set

The American Federation of Television & Radio Artists has negotiated a one-year contract extension with network and producer representatives for non-primetime programming.

The current three-year pact, which expired Saturday, would be extended until Nov. 15, 1998, if approved by AFTRA’s national board of directors. The extension, recommended by AFTRA’s negotiating committee, will include a 3% cost-of-living increase.

AFTRA and Screen Actors Guild leaders are skedded to begin jointly negotiating a new primetime television contract in January.
