Turner, Better Health fortify alliance

Turner Broadcasting’s Turner Private Networks unit is expanding its alliance with Better Health Network, an ad-supported TV service currently offered in 1,000 doctors’ office waiting rooms.

Better Health, a privately held firm in Tampa, Fla., will pay Turner $5 million in cash and equity to expand the type of programming now offered and to assume ad sales responsibility for a two-year period. Turner’s stake in the network will be less than 5%, but Better Health will pay Turner commissions on ad revenues. The network expects to reach 3,000 doctor’s offices by June 1997.
