Jim Burke, who has been VP-G.M. at Fox-owned KTTV for the past two years, has been bumped to the new position of exec VP, sales and marketing, for the Fox Television Stations, effective immediately.
In the new post, Burke will oversee all sales and marketing business as related to the station group. He also will handle the coming expansion of the Fox Television Station Group pending the acquisition early next year of 10 New World stations.
Burke will continue to perform his duties heading up KTTV until a permanent replacement can be hired.
In making the announcement, Mitchell Stern, prexy and CEO for the Fox TV Stations, said, “Jim has done an outstanding job as vice president and general manager of KTTV. In his short tenure at the station, he has propelled KTTV into a marker leader … throughout the day.”
It has been under Burke’s leadership that KTTV’s news department, guided by news director Jose Rios, has turned a corner, with the weeknight “Fox News at 10” overtaking KTLA’s “News at Ten” in both the May and November sweeps, and sending “News at Ten” to its first losses ever.
Before joining KTTV, Burke served as VP-G.M. at Fox-owned WTTG-TV Washington, D.C.
