“Double Tap,” the first project from the Richard Donner-Joel Silver action-thriller pic unit Decade Entertainment, is scheduled to go into production Tuesday with Stephen Rea starring and Greg Yaitanes at the helm.
The project is described as a character-driven thriller about a female deep cover agent who becomes involved with a hit man (Rea). The hit man is targeting the drug ring that she has infiltrated. Also cast in the pic are Kevin Gage, Mykelti Williamson and Peter Greene. The female lead is to be announced.
The pic is the first to come out of Decade, which produces thrillers budgeted at around $6 million. Donner and Silver formed the company earlier this year, with an eye toward tapping new talent for its films.
The company is financed by Home Box Office, Kushner-Locke and Republic Pictures. Silver and Donner will own their own negatives and retain all domestic television syndication rights.
“Double Tap” was scripted by Erik Saltzgaber, with a rewrite by Miles Millar and Alfred Gough.
Donner and Silver are exec producers on the film and Gil Adler is attached as producer. Also involved are a number of execs from Silver and Donner’s companies, including Damon Lee, Dan Cracchiolo and Alan Schechter from Silver Pics and Alexander Collett and Mills Goodloe from Donner/Shuler-Donner.
Yaitanes is repped by Ramses IsHak, Alan Gasmer and Rob Carlson at William Morris Agency and attorney Debbie Klein. Rea is repped by Martha Luttrell at International Creative Management.
