Jacksons subject of new bio book

GOOD MORNING: Michael Jackson and his family are the subjects of Dove Publishing’s next bio-book, “The Jackson Family Values.” Jermaine’s common-law wife and mother of his two children, Margaret Maldanado, is writing the book with Richard Hack for quick publishing … It’s not all serious with Dove Publishing, which is expanding its new movie biz. Another book being rushed by Dove to the stalls is “Newt Gingrich’s Bedtime Stories for Orphans” by Cathy Crimmins and Tom Maeder, who chronicle Gingrich in his presidential term in the year 2002 … With the Beverly Hills Hotel gala reopening set for June 3 comes word that the reported new owner of the Bel Air Hotel, Prince Jeffrey of Brunei, will be officially announced June 3 by the current owners, Japan’s Longterm Credit Bank. The prince is the brother of the sultan of Brunei, owner of the BevHills Hotel … Marlon Brando, who has been in deep mourning since his daughter’s death, is paged to return to work in July in “Divine Rapture” to film in Ireland, followed in September by “The Island of Dr. Moreau”… While Woody Harrelson juggles start dates and script offers, he continues to work in more “Money Train” scenes on the Sony lot as well as on the location’s giant re-created subway … Jeff Goldblum takes the directorial reins for Chanticleer’s “Directed By …”series for Showtime. His project is “The Red Eye,” a family drama co-starring Julie Harris and Rod Steiger. Jana Sue Memel and Tiki Goldberg produce the half-hour show starting June 3 and Goldblum immediately segues to “The Great White Hype” with Samuel L. Jackson June 20, directed by Reginald Hudlin (“Boomerang”) … Rod Steiger, a WWII Navy (destroyer USS Taussig) veteran, delivers a Memorial Day celebration June 28 on the Washington D.C. Mall, returns to San Diego for a Rotary Club campaign against the stigma of mental illness, then starts Showtime’s “Red Eye” for director Goldblum and then segues to the bigscreen “Livers Ain’t Cheap” with Christopher Lloyd, Emily Lloyd and — hopefully Gary Busey.

HOLLYWOOD GOOD SCOUTS: Two days before its national release, May 31, WB’s “The Bridges of Madison County” will be preemed at a fundraiser benefiting the victims and families relief fund of Oklahoma City at that city’s Brixton Square cinema. National Film Service underwrites a reception and auction to follow and Hollywood memorabilia is sought for the auction. WILL SHE OR WON’T SHE SHOW? Everyone at the Music Center’s 30th anni party at the Century Plaza honoring Alan and Marilyn Bergman wondered whether Barbra Streisand would be among those singing one of their songs at the tribute. She was not present but taped a message of congrats. Among those who sang Bergman tunes: Stephen Bishop, Rosemary Clooney, Tyne Daly, Joanna Gleason, James Ingram and Delta Dickerson, Nancy LaMott, Gary LeMel, Melissa Manchester and Michel Legrand, who dazzled the audience with his pianistics — and vocals.
