‘Baywatch’ star shoots ’em up in new pic

GOOD MORNING: Pamela Anderson, “Baywatch’s” blonde lifeguard C.J. Parker, segues to the bigscreen as “Barb Wire,” her character based on the new comic book from Dark Horse Comics, the company also behind “The Mask,””TimeCop,” etc. She’s described as “the smartest, fastest, toughest, ‘regular’ human being you’ve ever met.” And she warns, “Don’t call me babe,” as she bikes off in deep-cut, tight leather, blasting away at unlucky adversaries. P.S. “Barb’s” real name is Barbara Rose Kopetski — so don’t get smart. The pic (first of many?) will be distributed by Gramercy domestically, Polygram internationally. Toasting Anderson at the Palm were her manager Ray Manzella, who’ll also co-produce the pic, and her agent, UTA’s Nick Stevens — who is also the man behind the Mask — Jim Carrey … Roseanne and groom Ben Thomas are back from the Tahoe honeymoon and go back to work on the series Saturday … Steven Spielberg and Dominick Dunne were on the set of “The Duke of Grove,” a Chanticleer/Showtime half-hour star-filled feature. Spielberg was on hand to see wife Kate Capshaw, one of the cast. Dunne was there to kvell as son Griffin was debut-directing — his script as well. Also appearing in the pic are Uma Thurman , Kiefer Sutherland, Carey Lowell and Elliott Gould. Other first-time directors in this Showtime series include Laura Dern, Kathleen Turner and JoBeth Williams. Mrs. Spielberg (Capshaw) said she has no intention of directing — yet … A facility for the music world to replicate the MPTV Fund’s Country House and Hospital will be pitched by NARAS’ president and CEO Michael Greene at the Feb. 27 “MusiCares” sold-out tribute honoring Tony Bennett. Greene tells me he’s getting help and input from the MPTV Fund president and CEO William Haug. Latter confirms his assistance — but reminds, “It’s hard to replicate something like this — which has been here 74 years.” But Greene says he hopes “by the time I check out we will have started it.” He illustrated the need, telling unbelievable stories of “so many greats who have called from the gutter — too embarrassed of ruining their legacy — like Woody Herman, who was being thrown out of his house — on his death bed.”

IT’S TWIN GIRLS for Michael J. Fox and wife Tracy Pollan. The girls, Aquinnah Kathleen and Schuyler Frances, were born Wednesday in N.Y. …”Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s” Terry Farrell and Bloom/Dekom/Hergott attorney Joshua Grode are engaged to wed in June …”Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s” Will Smith and wife Sheree separated and will dissolve their marriage … Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger anticipate again participating in her mom Eunice Shriver’s Special Olympics. Timothy Shriver is exec producer of the games and Gary Smith exec produces the opening ceremonies from the Yale Bowl for July 3 NBC airing. Ricky Kirshner and Dan Netter co-produce. Athletes (10,000) from 140 countries will participate … Here’s a switch: Former Detroit Tigers star first baseman Harmon Killebrew plays a baseball star who signs autographs — for free — in this week’s seg of Bill Bickley and Michael Warren’s “Step By Step”… Stephen Lang, who played Babe Ruth in CBS’ “Babe,” donated memorabilia from the film — including the set of nose casts created to convert him into Ruth — to the 100th birthday anni of Ruth in Baltimore. Lang’s next are Fox TV’s “Evil Harvest,” WB’s “Little Panda” and Disney’s “Tall Tale”… Linda Yellen’s teamed with best-selling author Nancy Friday and producer Les Haber to bring Friday’s erotic-fantasy books to the bigscreen. She’s sold 25 million copies worldwide with titles including “Women on Top” and “My Mother, Myself”… The “Dave’s World” troupe celebrated a CBS pickup Thursday … James Reynolds signed for another three years on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives,” in which he debuted in 1981.

FAITHFUL FANS OF “The Brady Bunch” at the Bruin preview repeatedly screamed their approval of the accurately corny recreation of the series — with which this audience was well-familiar. They also cheered cameos of the series’ original stars, Florence Henderson (unbilled) and Ann B. Davis … Mark Harris called to complain he wasn’t allowed on camera of the “Geraldo” show taping Thursday with a panel of daughters of the famous, including Melody Condos (Martha Raye’s daughter). But the show’s producer, Jose Pretlow, told me Harris had been on two previous shows and “we weren’t going to ambush Melody. He (Harris) was invited to phone in his comments.” Harris refused the phoner. Zsa Zsa, however, did a call-in after daughter Francesca Hilton made her appearance … As anyone knows, Singapore’s not the place to take local laws lightly — but Paul Anka, playing before a packed house, unintentionally broke the statute that forbids performers to leave the stage and perform in the audience. “I can’t work any other way even if it meant risking a caning,” said Anka. Apparently authorities turned the other cheek for him. He’s releasing a new single over there, “After All” (Polydor), written with new partner, Burt Bacharach.
