WCIU Takes Kids’ WB

WCIU Chicago, which just went on the air last month, may become the full-time affiliate for Warner Bros. WB Network within the next two years.

The new indie has just signed with the WB to carry the netlet’s children’s programming service, Kids’ WB.

Tribune-owned Superstation WGN, which carries WB’s primetime programming both locally and nationally on cable systems, will not carry the kids’ shows in Chicago. WB has said it does not plan on using WGN for national or local coverage beyond year two of the network because the station’s heavy sports load will conflict too much with its primetime schedule.
