In an effort to bolster its distribution efforts, Time Warner Entertainment is launching Telepictures Distribution, a separate syndication division that will handle both original programming and selected library product.
The move, which had been expected (Daily Variety, June 13) will result in executive staff changes between Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution and Telepictures Distribution.
Warner TV distribution execs Vince Messina, VP of West Coast sales and feature film marketing, and Damian Riordan, VP/East Coast sales manager, will become senior vice presidents Telepictures Distribution.
Also jumping to Telepictures is Bill Hague, WBDTD’s VP/central sales, who will take a similar post with the new arm and remain in Chicago. Other posts will be filled in the next several weeks.
Telepictures will report to Scott Carlin, who recently became WBDTD’s executive vice president.
On the original programming front, the new arm is expected to look for speciality shows including finding synergy with Time Inc. magazines, although new projects will not be limited to inhouse subject matter.
One example is the TV show “Martha Stewart Living,” based on the Time Inc. magazine. Sales of the show are handled by Group W.
