News Corp. is making additional restructuring and personnel changes to its Fox TV as part of an overhaul that began last summer.
On the TV side, Jay Itzkowitz, VP of legal affairs for Fox Television, has been named senior VP, legal affairs, and VP/associate general counsel of News Corp.’s News America Publishing.
Itzkowitz has played a significant role in most of Fox’s recent deals, including the alliance with New World Communications. He reports to Arthur Siskind, executive VP and group general counsel for News Corp. Itzkowitz becomes the highest-ranking attorney in the TV division and the only Fox lawyer who also has a News Corp. title.
In a related move, it’s expected that Fox Inc. exec VP George Vradenburg will leave the company to join the prestigious Los Angeles-based law firm Latham & Watkins, which has a prominent communications industry practice and offices around the world. Current FCC chairman Reed Hundt was a partner in the firm’s Washington offices.
At Latham & Watkins, Vradenburg will head the firm’s new entertainment and media division.
Vradenburg joined Fox in 1991 from CBS, where he was senior VP, general counsel and secretary, and the web’s point man in discussions pertaining to the financial interest and syndication rules.
