‘America’ rises to win day; Dave tops latenight

“Good Morning America” slipped back ahead of “Today” in Nielsen daytime and fringe ratings for the June 5-9 week.

The ABC program posted a 4.3 rating, 20 share, with 4.7 million total viewers, compared to a 4.2/19 and 4.5 million for “Today.” “CBS This Morning” (2.3/10) remained third, with roughly 2.6 million viewers.

CBS’ “Late Show With David Letterman” (4.7/14) again ruled the latenight roost, topping “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (4.3/13) – an average that excludes Wednesday and includes a delayed telecast Friday due to the NBA Finals.

CBS research noted “Late Show” retains 60% of its primetime lead-in audience, compared to 39% for “Tonight.”

“Nightline” (5.2/14) ranked second in households in its half-hour behind “Late Show.” In demos, Letterman posted a 3.1 rating among both adults 18-49 and 25-54, while “Tonight” delivered a 2.3 and 2.4.
