PETER PRESS, former Viacom U.K., Europe and Asia VP and managing director, has resigned as managing director of TV1, the entertainment channel of the Galaxy pay TV service.

Also a former Network Ten executive, Press returned to Australia in October 1994 to establish the channel, which is a partnership between Paramount Pictures, Columbia Tristar and Universal Pictures/MCA and Galaxy’s parent company Australis Media.

After 20 years at Budapestbased Hungarofilm (formerly Cinemagyar), foreign sales vet JUDIT SUGAR is leaving to concentrate on film financing and production. Her new consultancy is set for a September start.

E! Entertainment Television has hired two new executives in its international development department. KAREN KAUFMAN has been named international sales executive, and GRACIA WAVERLY has been hired as account representative.

Kaufman, who was slated to begin July 19 in the newly created international sales executive position, will report to Jon Helmrich, E!’s vice president, international development. She will be responsible for negotiating deals and developing sales strategies, particularly in Latin America and Europe.
