Former Viacom Pictures Intl. president Arthur Kananack has been named head of Keystone Releasing, a new worldwide distribution branch of Canada-based film, music, and distribution company International Keystone Entertainment Inc.
Kananack will be assembling a sales force to represent TV and theatrical titles produced by IKE’s domestic theatrical wing, Keystone Pictures.
Kananack, with his son Michael Kananack as director of sales, presided over the company’s debut at this year’s AFM, where it was screening pix including “Malicious,” starring Molly Ringwald, a $3.5 million suspenser. A product reel is available for “Crash,” a $4.5 million action pic, in addition to pre-sales on “One Cut From Paradise,” a thriller in preproduction.
Kananack was president of international theatrical and video sales for Viacom Pictures from 1987 to 1992. He was previously president of ITC Entertainment.
