Censorship Law To Be Cut

South Africa’s tough film censorship laws are about to become extinct at the hands of radical new laws to be introduced in parliament in the next few weeks.

The draft laws, which have been condemned by Christian and right-wing white groups, will allow adults to watch pornographic films in licensed adult cinemas.

A new Film & Publications Board will be established but will only be able to ban the distribution of visual material containing child porn, bestiality, explicitly violent acts that could encourage violence, material that promotes racial hatred and explicit violent acts.
