Warren Phillips seemed destined to forsake the limelight after retiring from his posts as publisher of the Wall Street Journal, chairman and CEO of the Dow Jones Co. and member of the Pulitzer Prize board. He’s joining his wife, Barbara, to start a small publishing imprint, Bridge Works, in Bridgehampton.
But that was until Hollywood came sniffing after one of his books, “Patty Jane’s House of Curl,” by Lorna Landvik. The book, the story of sisters who hang together through adversity, is being called a “northern ‘Fried Green Tomatoes.’ “
Phillips said the galleys have been leaked and film agents and book buyers have come hunting. He finally chose Creative Artists Agency’s Sally Wilcox.
