Movie-based entertainment attractions are due to open in the Canary Islands, Spain and Germany, according to Showscan Entertainment.
In addition, a 16-seat film-based simulation theater will be part of a 13-screen multiplex in a Chesapeake, Va., entertainment center called “Funscape.”
In Madrid, a 50-seat simulation theater will join 41 other attractions at Parque de Atracciones. The plan in Germany is to build a 50-seat simulation theater as part of a $1 billion upgrade underway at the historic Babelsberg movie studio in Potsdam.
A 400-seat specialty theater featuring Showscan large-format films will be built at Loro Park in Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
Additionally, installations in Dallas and Indianapolis will initiate a recent agreement with the United Artists Theatre Circuit to add Showscan ride simulation venues in new multiplexes. There will be at least 26 Showscan theaters put into new UA multiplexes during the next five years.
