The Canadian government has tapped Francois Macerola as exec director of Telefilm Canada, the federal film and TV funder, and Sandra Macdonald as head of the National Film Board of Canada, the publicly funded film studio.
Macerola will take over the reins at Telefilm in Montreal March 13 and Macdonald will become the NFB’s Government Film Commissioner on April 10. Both appointments are for five-year terms.
Macerola is a vice president of Malofilm Distribution, the Montreal-based distrib; previously, he served as head of the National Film Board.
Macdonald has been president of the Canadian Film & Television Production Assn. since 1992, and she also has worked at the Canadian Radio-Television & Telecommunications Commission.
