‘RoboCop’ nabs big ratings

Rysher Entertainment’s “Robocop: The Series” got off to a strong start in Nielsen metered markets last week.

The two-hour premiere improved the previous week’s time period average by 77% with an 8.8 cumulative rating.

It also boosted the markets’ February share by an average of 50% and beat all network affiliates in a few markets.

Locally, KCOP finished second behind KABC-TV’s kids sitcom block from 8-10 p.m. Friday with a 10.3 rating/18 share, a 157% improvement over the February 1993 and ’94 time period averages.

On WWOR in New York, the series delivered a 9.4/15, up 67% above this past February’s time period average. It finished ahead of CBS, Fox and NBC’s “Viper” in the 8-10 p.m. Friday slot.

WPWR in Chicago improved on its February average by 125%, but the 5.4/9 was good enough to only beat Fox in the time period.
