Madden move confirmed by Fox

Fox Broadcasting Co. has confirmed a four-year deal with John Madden — who called his last game for CBS on Sunday — to become the network’s lead football analyst, continuing Madden’s 13-year run providing color for National Football League games.

Reports have indicated that Madden has agreed to a four-year, $ 30 million deal after being heavily courted by both ABC and NBC as well once Fox snared rights to the NFL from CBS.

Madden’s broadcast partner, play-by-play man Pat Summerall, is also expected to sign with Fox Sports, reuniting him with Madden next season as the weblet’s lead football team. Fox apparently wanted to send out a separate announcement on behalf of Summerall, who will have to sever other ties to CBS Sports, such as his role in golf coverage.
