Fox mum on booth deal with Madden, Summerall

Fox Broadcasting Co. had no comment on published reports that it will sign John Madden and Pat Summerall — CBS’ premier National Football League announcing team — to continue those chores on Fox’s telecasts next season of National Football Conference games.

USA Today reported that Madden has agreed to a four-year $ 30 million contract, to be paired with Summerall, his broadcast partner the last 13 years.

Madden has also been hotly pursued by ABC for “Monday Night Football” and NBC for its American Football Conference package.

Madden and Summerall called their last CBS game Sunday, the playoff between Dallas and San Francisco, ending a 38-year affiliation between the network and the NFL. If he joins Fox, Summerall would have to give up his golf and tennis assignments at CBS.
