Renaissance man Patrick Johnson, a writer/helmer/special effects designer, has signed with the William Morris Agency in all areas, the agency announced Wednesday.
Johnson recently helmed and is in post-production on producer John Hughes’ $ 40 million F/X-driven family pic “Baby’s Day Out” for Fox.
Johnson’s other credits include writing and helming the Disney release “Spaced Invaders”; scripting several drafts of the upcoming WB release “Speed Racer” for Richard Donner, Lauren Shuler-Donner and Joel Silver; and creating the story for the upcoming Universal pic “Dragonheart.”
Among other projects Johnson has in development are several in-houseJim Henson projects, as well as a collaborative effort with prolific writer/producer Ron Bass titled “Starsailor.”
Mike Simpson, Arnold Rifkin and Jeff Field will rep Johnson at WMA. Speaking for the agency, Simpson said, “Although his first passion is directing, Patrick’s knowledge and interest in new entertainment technologies such as videogaming, interactive storytelling and virtual reality are also of great interest to us both.”
