The Screen Actors Guild has officially named Harry Medved its new national communications director.
Medved, former assistant communications director, succeeds Mark Locher, who died Jan. 7 from complications resulting from AIDS.
He will report to Ken Orsatti, SAG’s national exec director.
Medved’s appointment was unanimously ratified by SAG’s board of directors in Hollywood and Gotham. In his new job, Medved will serve as media relations director, spokesman and exec editor of the guild’s publications, including Screen Actor magazine and SAG Call Sheet.
A graduate of UCLA Film School, Medved has worked for SAG since 1986, when he joined the guild as associate editor of publications. He has written four humorous books about the film industry, including “The Golden Turkey Awards” and “The Hollywood Hall of Shame.”
