Oscar-winning lyricist Alan Bergman has been appointed chairman of the 66th Academy Awards Governors Ball Committee by Academy president Arthur Hiller. This marks Bergman’s third assignment as chairman of the committee overseeing the Governor’s Ball, which will be held at the Los Angeles Music Center following the telecast of the Academy Awards presentation March 21.
Bergman, who is currently first vice president of the Academy, is a three-time Oscar winner, winning twice in the song category for “The Windmills of Your Mind” and “The Way We Were,” and once in the original song score category for “Yentl.”
