NATO/ShoWest ’94 named Harrison Ford as its first Box Office Star of the Century. The star of “The Fugitive” and the Indiana Jones film series will receive the accolade at the Paramount Pictures dinner March 9 at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
In a statement, NATO/ShoWest general chairman Tim C. Warner said Ford’s performances over the past two decades “have firmly established him as the most prominent and successful actor ever to work within the motion picture industry.”
Warner cited domestic theatrical grosses exceeding $ 2 billion as “an achievement unparalleled in the 100-year history of exhibition.”
At the annual convention between distributors and exhibitors, Ford will be on hand to promote his coming Paramount release “Clear and Present Danger”– the third of the ongoing Jack Ryan series after “The Hunt for Red October” and “Patriot Games.” Directed by Phillip Noyce, the pic co-stars Willem Dafoe, James Earl Jones and Samuel L. Jackson.
