series launched by the fledgling Fox network several years ago.

But Townsend’s take on comedy is far more creative and much less vitriolic.

The hourlong broadcast was a deftly mixed blend of comedy and music. Sketches and shorts spoofing popular films allow Townsend to put his considerable theatrical experience into play. The musical segments were equally well-planned, the debut filled with some of the best voices in the industry. Townsend also acts as a seasoned ringmaster expertly guiding the diverse elements into a cohesive package.

Energy, style and writing are top-notch and help the fast-paced show soar.
