The Los Angeles production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new musical “Sunset Boulevard” rang up $ 630,961 in the first 24 hours of box office and phone sales. The show, starring Glenn Close, opens Dec. 2 at the Shubert.
It went on sale at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Day Krolick III is taking on more legal responsibilities for the Peacock web, managing talent contracts and negotiations for NBC News and NBC Television Stations. Krolick, with NBC since 1975, will continue as the head of the web’s labor-relations unit. In addition, James Mills becomes attorney, talent negotiations.
A hunt is under way for “a pint-size Ethel Merman” for the musical “Ruthless, ” which will open Oct. 19 at the Canon Theater in BevHills. Auditions will be held Saturday at the theater, 205 N. Canon Drive, starting at 10 a.m. The producers will audition girls ages 8 to 12, who should be prepared to sing a ballad and an uptempo tune, and bring tap shoes.
For contributing to the demise of the CD longbox, Bonnie Raitt, Raffi and the Beach Boys will be honored at a luncheon Monday at the Westwood Marquis.
