NBC affil to pre-empt regular show

KYW-TV, the Westinghouse Broadcasting-owned NBC affil in the nation’s fourth-largest market of Philadelphia, will go against the grain by pre-empting Peacock prime time fare for a locally produced one-hour newsmag.

The station announced Tuesday that “The Bulletin With Larry Kane” will make its debut at 8 p.m. July 30.

It will pre-empt the web’s regular Friday night programming in the hour.

NBC plans to air various shows in the slot until fall, when the new drama “Against the Grain” premieres.

KYW is believed to be the first network affil to air a prime time local program of this type in a top-10 market.
