John Miller has had his responsibilities shuffled at NBC Entertainment, giving up supervision of daytime programs while overseeing a new area, event programming, reporting to entertainment prez Warren Littlefield.

Miller will continue to oversee all advertising and promotion andthus hold the title exec VP, advertising & promotion and event programming.

He assumed the unwieldy title of exec VP, advertising & promotion and daytime & children’s programs in July 1991, having spent a year before that as exec VP of marketing.

NBC placed daytime under the aegis of NBC TV Station group president John Rohrbeck last October, with Miller reporting to him in that area only. Rohrbeck will now directly oversee daytime, with VP Susan Lee reporting to him, while children’s/Saturday morning VP Linda Mancuso will continue to report to Miller.

The Peacock network, which remains last among the webs in daytime, will introduce two new daytime programs on June 14: “John & Leeza,” from Paramount, and “Caesars Challenge,” from Stephen J. Cannell Prods.

NBC cited the final episode of “Cheers,” which the network turned into a full evening incorporating “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” as the sort of opportunities the web hopes to exploit as event programs.

ABC recently expanded its specials department by giving Miller’s counterpart, senior VP of marketing Mark Zakarin, supervision of concept specials.
